The telephone is one of the most important inventions of the modern world. In the 1980s, the first mobile phones were introduced, which were simple and effective. Users keyed in a phone number and pressed call, to speak to anyone anywhere.
Things developed with pixelated screens, number-letter keys, and games like Snake. But soon designers added too many functions and button combinations to remember. The revolution came when Apple introduced the iPhone in 2007. With a simple touch screen and easy to use functions, human factors design produced humanity’s ‘everything box’ that few of us could live without.
