If you’ve heard of ergonomics before, you have probably associated it with the design of office equipment. Ergonomists helped design things like chairs and desks to ensure they were at comfortable sitting heights and provided good back support and posture and reducing the possibility of injury.
In 1904, Frank Lloyd Wright designed what is considered to be the world’s first ergonomic office chair, including the ground-breaking feature seat height adjustment mechanism. In 1976, Bill Stumpf then developed the ‘Ergon Chair,’ often thought to be the inspiration behind modern office ‘task chairs’ common today.
