The Future for Human Factors
The Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors has been around for 75 years, and a lot has happened in that time. From office chairs and workplace safety to efficient railway journeys and designing cars for older drivers, human factors has continued to make a difference to the world and the people in it.
The human factors profession is diverse, spanning a wide range of sectors and including a wide range of people. From psychology to engineering backgrounds, Human Factors professionals sit between designers and users, bridging the gap between the two and facilitating problem solving and creative thinking. They bring out the best in people, developing solutions through their listening, empathy, and curiosity.
We don’t know where the world is headed or what challenges we may face in the future. But we do know that having human factors people on board will make all the difference, continuing the tradition of improving safety and maximising satisfaction. How might you be a part of it?
